Las Vegas starts heating up early in the year, but the early mornings are still mild enough, especially at Gilcrease Orchard and when I get to photograph the sweetest couple. I went up to the farm with my mom the week before and it was so much fun being able to pick the vegetables + I knew that it was the perfect place to do a couples photoshoot! We picked zucchini, walked through the orchards, and laughed—until it got too hot anyways.
During summers in Las Vegas, I prefer to take photoshoots in the early morning when we are at a nice 85-90 degree range, or at sunset when we are at 90-95, because after a day of 110 and bright sun, this feels like heaven. We went out in the morning for this session, as Gilcrease Orchard is only open until 10am…. because they are smart and don’t want to sweat all day in that heat!
Even with the early call, we were still some of the latest of the farm goers and we kind of had to scavenge to find any vegetables. This is combined with the fact that we had no idea what zucchini looked like when still attached to the actual plant, but once we figured it out, we all found plenty of blossoms (even if they were the size of a finger).
After finding enough veges, we decided that a cuddle session was in order. So we skipped through the orchard, Cristina + Cameron shared sweet kisses, hid among the trees, and we got some shade! It definitely was hot at this point and we wanted to get some space away from people!
These trees had fruit, but they were definitely not ready for picking yet. I will definitely be back when all of these start to ripen!
The next set of photos are definitely my favorites. There is just something about sitting down poses that I really love. It always ends up looking the most romantic, but also the most relaxed and natural because my couples finally get a chance to sit down and take in the moment together. This was no different— we were able to find a spot away from everyone and Cristina + Cameron got all snuggly.
And they only sat in a few red ants so it’s all good!!! (sorry again, guys!)
On our way out, they danced on the little path, mixed in with some booty bumps and odd stares from the guests that passed by us. Gilcrease Orchard is really far north in Las Vegas, but the way the mountains look in the background makes it even more worth the drive, since I live on the other side of the city. + it is such a unique experience if you are in Las Vegas and looking for a place to do engagement photos or a couples session. Or if you just need somewhere to take your kids in the morning! And don’t forget to bring a shovel— it helps when you’re digging your vegetables out!
And that is the end of the couples photoshoot. + a fun tip— Gilcrease Orchard is open in the fall for pumpkin picking and you can get even more photoshoot fun!
